Moving a Third-Party Domain Between Squarespace Sites

Before transferring your domain, ensure:

  • Your domain isn't expired
  • Your destination site isn't a parking page
  • Your destination site isn't expired

Follow these three simple steps to move your domain:

Step 1: Disconnect the Domain

  1. Navigate to your current site's Domains panel
  2. Click on the domain you want to move
  3. Scroll down and select "Disconnect domain"
  4. Confirm the disconnection

Step 2: Connect to New Site

  1. Log into your destination site
  2. Open the Domains panel
  3. Select "Use a Domain I Own"
  4. Enter your domain name
  5. Click "Connect from provider"
  6. Choose your domain provider from the dropdown menu

Step 3: Update DNS Records

  • For GoDaddy, Namecheap, or Network Solutions: Connection happens automatically
  • For other providers:
    1. Copy the unique code from the Host column in Squarespace
    2. Log into your domain provider
    3. Locate DNS settings
    4. Find the CNAME Record with verify.squarespace.com
    5. Update the Alias field with the new code
    6. Save changes

Important Notes:

  • Domain connection can take 24-48 hours
  • Don't modify other DNS records
  • Keep existing Google Workspace subscriptions? Contact Squarespace support with:
